Abstract: Seeds of many peony species contain a large amount oil. However, the exploiting its potential for oil production is hampered by lack basic information regarding developmental biology seeds. Our aim was to obtain detailed relationship between seed development and accumulation various storage compounds Paeonia lactiflora ‘Hangshao’ seed. were collected at five stages including 30 days after flowering (DAF), 45 DAF, 60 75 DAF 90 DAF. Anatomical histological analysis, weight water content, proteins, starch, fatty acids contents determinated. The time span P. physiologically mature with maximum dry matter content. During development, starch lipid content showed an increased then decrease pattern, while they reached their differed Protein slight decreased pattern. Lipid main reserve A total 26 kinds acid detected among which, seven all more than 100 mg.Kg-1 in Those palmitic acid, stearic oleic trans-oleic linoleic α-linolenic erucic acid. Besides, accounted 40% each stage.
